Open the account
- Go to the fund house's website or app and choose New investor.
- Enter your PAN. The site checks your KYC with the KYC registration agencies. If KYC is not done, most fund houses let you complete it online with Aadhaar.
- Enter or confirm your mobile number and email, and verify each with an OTP.
- Add your bank account. Some sites check it with a ₹1 credit.
- Add a nominee, or choose to opt out. Nominees explains the choice.
Make the investment
- Pick the scheme, the plan, and Growth or IDCW.
- Enter the amount. Each fund has a minimum, often ₹100 to ₹5,000 for a one-time purchase; every fund page here shows it.
- Pay by UPI or net banking.
- Keep the confirmation. It shows your folio number, the fund house's account number for you.
After the first purchase
Every later purchase in the same fund house goes into the same folio with a couple of taps. Funds from other fund houses need an account with each of them, or a single account on MF Central or MF Utilities.
