## Dates and frequency

Most fund houses let you choose any date for a monthly SIP, and many also offer daily, weekly and quarterly SIPs. Pick a date a few days after your salary arrives so the debit does not fail.

## The bank mandate

A SIP is paid by an automatic debit you authorise once: an e-NACH mandate through net banking or a debit card, or UPI AutoPay. Setting up the mandate takes a few days, so the first instalment may be paid separately. The mandate sets a maximum per debit; choose a limit above your SIP if you plan to raise it later.

## Minimum amounts

Minimum SIP amounts are set by each fund, usually between ₹100 and ₹1,000 a month. Every fund page here shows the fund's minimum SIP and minimum one-time amount.

## If a debit fails

A missed instalment is not a penalty from the fund, but your bank may charge for a bounced debit. After several failed instalments in a row, the fund house may cancel the SIP.

## Raising or changing a SIP

You can usually set a step-up when you start, raising the amount by a fixed sum or percentage each year. To change the date or amount otherwise, start a new SIP and stop the old one. The [step-up SIP calculator](https://discovermf.com/calculators/step-up-sip) shows what a yearly rise adds.

## Questions

### Can I have more than one SIP in the same fund?

Yes. Each SIP runs on its own date and amount.

### What happens if my SIP date is a holiday?

The instalment is processed on the next business day, at that day's NAV.
